Introducing the ODI's Open Data Maturity Model

The Open Data Institute has revamped their classic Open Data Maturity Model, originally launched 10 years ago, for the modern world of data literacy, ethics and AI. The Open Data Maturity Model supports the assessment of operational and strategic activities around open data, provides guidance on potential areas for improvement, and helps organisations compare themselves against one another to highlight their respective strengths and weaknesses, adopt best practices and improve their processes.

How Reality Capture Twinning Works: Creating Your First Digital Twin

What is a digital twin? How do you make one? Why would you want one?

This introductory workshop will walk you through using innovative tools like Scaniverse, Cesium, and Twinworks to create 3D models, visualize them in the context of their natural and built real world environment and design sustainable spaces. Through hands-on activities, you’ll discover how advances in data capture, geographic information systems, and AI can simplify sustainable design and spatial analysis for everyone—no experience needed! Perfect for students, professionals, and municipal staff.

Workshop participants will learn how to:

  1. Capture and create high-quality 3D models on your phone.

  2. Get 3D models online with a spatial (map-based) platform.

  3. Try out cutting-edge AI image generation with 3D models on Twinworks.
