Our Open Hub

OurOpenHub is an idea that evolved from several conferences with the goal of providing a central “clearinghouse” of information related to all things open. This website concept and design is based on a grass roots driven initiative led by GOOD that has a working group from across Canada and a representative from New Zealand.

Visit the site here and provide feedback. We look to expand in the future and, if you’re interested in joining us, connect by email

Webinar Series

In addition to conferences, the association is developing a series of webinars and GOODcafe events are to be run on a monthly basis. The current events schedule may be found here.

Webinar topics planned include:

  • Introduction to Open Data

  • Open Data Charter Principles

  • Data Governance – Challenges and Approaches

  • Ethical AI (Artificial Intelligence)

  • COVID-19 and Open Data

  • Evidence Based Decision Making

We would welcome your suggestions for other topics and questions you would like to have answered.  To connect, please email us info@go-opendata.ca and we’ll do a poll to prioritize.

Open Mentors

This is an emerging initiative that supports organizations that are looking to start an open data program but not sure where to begin.

This mentor engagement is available to corporate members and is intended to assist via an initial discussion and resource sharing. This is not a consulting service. Details may be found here

OptimumOpen

- Local to Global

After years of opening up more and more data, have we reached a point where positive impacts have been optimized for community wellbeing? Not yet!

This project seeks to collaborate with all stakeholders in the open community and government how well we’ve aligned with the principles of Open Data from the Open Data Charter. Future efforts should also align with the 4 key elements of the “Third Wave of Open Data” report from GovLab: publishing with purpose, fostering partnerships and data collaboration, advancing open data at the subnational level and prioritizing data responsibility and data rights. All of the above needs to be integrated into a policy framework and action plan to optimize the open data impacts to society.
